US 89 Phoenix

So far, we've found very few postcards from US89 through Phoenix.  This is from either of two reasons; 1) Such postcards don't exist and 2) postcards could have been created for US 60, 70 or 80 and not US 89.  US 89 shared a common route with 60-70-80 through Phoenix.

As you know, US 89 through Phoenix was first designed in 1926.  We found a 1930 of street traffic in Phoenix.  Even though this view doesn't show US 89's route on Van Buren and Grand Avenue, it is easily representative of what driving through Phoenix would  looked like when US 89 was a mere 4 years old.  Simply click the long link:

Also note that we have included postcards below from Glendale and one from Sun City.  If and when we find more from either Glendale or Sun City, we will create a special section for them.

Note the wide open spaces in the postcard view above.  Look below the reverse side of this postcard for that that area looks like today.

Here is what the area of the Sea Breeze Tourist Village looks like today.  The location of the Sea Breeze is shown via the push pin in the Google Earth screen clip above.
