US 89 Kanab

Here is our collection of US 89 Kanab postcards.  Note that the back side of any given card will always be directly below the front side. Captions will eventually be added.

Our favorite Kanab postcard is above.  Notice the young girl on the bicycle.

The above postcard is undated but the vehicles give a pretty good idea of its age.
Peaches Trails End eventually morphed into just "Trails End".  The owner obtained gov't contracts to feed fire crews around The West.  You will often see Trails End semi-trailers going to and from fire camps each summer.
Above is a view of Parry's Lodge.  We really need to do a separate post on Parry's as there are SO many views of this iconic property.

Above and below are views of the same motel.  It's rare to see two different views of the same place.

Above and below are the Union Pacific's (UP) Lodge at Kanab.  UP carried tourist to Cedar City and then took them on a Grand Circle Tour of Cedar Breaks, Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon's North Rim.  Kanab was central to all those points.  Supposedly the tour busses stopped at this lodge to serve food to the tourists.

  1. Love these, but the two UP Lodge photos look like completely different buildings
